Day 736: Turkeys, doves, deer and squirrels

Our bird feeders are supporting much of the wildlife in the area.  A dozen turkey, three young does, a half dozen squirrels and doves scratch and peck at the same small patch of seed just outside my window.  Over the next two days, I hope it will keep them alive.  Such severe cold is coming that I fear for any creature caught outside.

I've made huge progress on the chapter on the backpacking classes.  Staying home from Toronto was a productive decision.  Next, I will tackle field sanitation!

We walked another three miles today, but I doubt that will be possible the next three days.  I don't want to return to the elliptical.

Weather is influencing every decision.  Nancy was supposed to fly from Tulsa to Louisville via St. Louis today, but of course there are few planes in the air in the midwest.  She rented a car and drove to Springfield, Mo. and will continue home tomorrow.  The thought of her driving through the storm alone for eleven hours is terrifying.  So many things she will have to do alone now, but why start with this trip, alone, at night in a historically strong storm?
