This summer was filled with many happy hours of swimming, so it saddens me to close the pool. We got a good start on the process today. We have to drain about a foot of water so it's lower than the skimmer. While it drained, we put the new leaf cover on so that no leaves can get in and rot in the pool. I don't know why it took so long for the porous screened device to be invented. It should prevent us from having to scoop disgusting rotting leaves out of the cover next spring. I scrubbed down the ladder which was covered with green algae. Yuck! Tomorrow, we hope to finish the job.
The mountain ash trees are heavy with berries. When Steve was growing up, he was told that plentiful berries means that a rough winter is ahead.
No frost has hit yet, so I am still surrounded by flowers in one of my favorite places. I love sitting here in the afternoon sun.
A beautiful tree on Forest Place
Our son got disappointing news today on the job he wanted so much. Although he got to the final round, they passed. What can a parent do to ease the pain and worry of an adult child? Not much, certainly not enough. He's tough, resilient and brilliant. We have confidence that he will bounce back and land an amazing job.
