Penelope was very moving this morning. I am constantly impressed and touched by the connections between members of the group. We are more than friends. Three years ago, Carol L. lost her son when his car was hit by a train. It was devastating. Later, his twin brother had a tattoo picture of his brother inked on his arm. Valerie drew the picture of the lost twin from his brother's arm and then Carol and her husband had it engraved on his gravestone. What an incomparable gift.
We celebrate together, we grieve together and offer support for whoever is suffering. This week, it's Sarah, who lost her brother very suddenly on Thursday. Everyone pitched and contributed to a meal and then we will be there for the memorial service. Tomorrow, Penny is coming over and we will work together on one of her art projects. I love these women and can't imagine my life without them.
The bees were buzzing all over the asters near the creek.
Our friend the heron was fishing in the waterfall at Risley Street this afternoon. We were able to get very close today and the light was perfect. We witnessed it catch and swallow three small fish that were washed over the waterfall.
Ever since we returned from our trip, the pool temperature has read 58 to 62 degrees. Several times I reached into the pool with longing, but the air was so cool that I didn't even try it. Now I know that I have a new cold threshold: 62 degrees. Of course, it was a really warm, muggy day and the water was so refreshing. I just paddled around the edge, but it was delightful!
