Day 598: Fifty mile victory!

I  got seriously dehydrated yesterday from over exertion and paid the price over night.  All morning, I rehydrated in preparation for the longest swim of the year.  Two miles, four hundred lengths.  The temperature was ideal at 74 degrees.

After the first set of laps, I got a wonderful phone call, really, one of the best calls I've had in a long time.  Great news from our friend Rebecca's mom.  After two years and two months of fighting cancer, Rebecca has returned to college.  She has recovered much of her strength and is back pursuing her dreams.  Many obstacles lie ahead, but their family is more hopeful than ever.  As icing on the cake, she got tickets to hear President Obama speak at UB on Thursday.

The water warmed as I swam on throughout the afternoon.  Finally, I finished at 5:15 pm.  The grand total: 400 lengths today, 21.6 miles for August, 50.8 miles for the summer!

Victory!
