We walked through the cemetery since it was shady and cool. I didn't take my camera, one of the few times in the past 1 1/2 years, and of course, I regretted it. As we rounded a bend in an older section of the cemetery, a red tailed hawk took off with a newly caught black squirrel. It landed just a few feet away, glared at us and wrapped its wings around the squirming squirrel. Steve's iphone camera could not zoom in close enough to capture the amazing scene.
The Mustard Seed was very busy and we waited about 15 minutes despite having a reservation. The evening was so pleasant that sitting outside was lovely. We had been dreaming of the lemon meringue pie, but tonight they had rhubarb pie and blueberry cobbler. No problem! I haven't had rhubarb pie since Steve's mom made it for me before she died in the early 1990s. We told the waitress we would begin with dessert and she laughed out loud. It only makes sense. If you eat dinner first, there's no room for dessert.
