Day 1225: Feels like summer

Wet bathing suit, towel wrapped around my waist, flip-flops, watermelon snacks, mulching gardens, steaks on the grill, hostas unfurling.  It's all about summer this weekend, eighty degrees and humid.  Spring, and normal temperatures, return on Monday, just in time for Quest.  It will be hard to leave this lovely refuge.  So glad it's going to cool down for a few days while we hike.

Steve trimmed all the individual photos and inserted them into the frames and paired them with the certificates.  Packets for each hike group are ready for the homecoming ceremony.  We haven't heard from any more families about the track meet.  I suspect they are waiting till the last minute even though we have instructed the kids for three weeks to advise us early if they are going to miss a portion of the hike.

We went to see Woman in Gold at the Opera House tonight.  It was a powerful movie featuring Helen Mirren as an Austrian-American woman seeking the return of the Gustave Klimt portrait of her aunt that was stolen by the Nazi's in the 1930s.  Ryan Reynolds played the young lawyer who argued to case before the Supreme Court and then sued the Austrian government.  They won the case and the paintings were finally restored to the family.  Even though I knew the outcome, it was moving and suspenseful.

First mulched garden!
