So very happy to have the pool open!
There was no sleeping in this morning. Molly woke us before seven since we went to bed so early. My head was pounding from dehydration, but that was solved with four glasses of water and two cups of tea. Steve dove right into the backpacking chores: stove repair, washing cook bags and gloves, packing the car with gear and cook gear to return to school. Tomorrow, he'll deliver all the pots, pans and utensils to the washroom to be sanitized. I tackled the front garden, trimming dead wood from the azaleas, weigelia and plum, raking, pulling weeds and digging out wild onions.
The pool cover had just a little water left so we figured this was the best day to tackle the stinky job. The new leaf cover helps contain rotting leaves and remove solid debris, but it was still gross and heavy. Next, the winter cover. We scooped a few more buckets of stinking water off the cover and then hauled it off. Yay! Water! Although quite green, I am so happy to see water again!
Scrubbing all the winter grime and rotting organic material off the cover took a long time. Then we dragged it out to the drive way to dry and fold. All the work is worth it! Tomorrow, I'm going in!
