Day 462: Primroses

Primroses, tiny daisies, and cornflowers are finally blooming!   Willows along the creeks are greening.    We took a long walk along the creek, through campus and into the cemetery.

We noticed for the first time a cluster of graves with the G.A.R.  (Grand Army of the Republic)  markers.  The train of wars is endless and continues.  The conflict with North Korea is intensifying and I am so afraid that their young, foolish leader will launch missiles at targets in S. Korea or Japan or the U.S.

When we were on the way to the security station in the Albuquerque airport yesterday, two dozen citizens and a a dozen young soldiers were waiting with banners and flags to greet returning soldiers.  We stood and applauded while several servicemen and women were warmly welcomed home.  I couldn't help crying and Steve stood in awe, shaking his head, because his lonely
homecoming was filled with anger and bitterness.  Fortunately, that shameful practice has changed and the country no longer blames its soldiers for wrongful wars.
