Day 260: The Cloisters

Traveling in NYC is exhausting!  Before we arrived, I called the boys and told them that their Dad's toe was broken so we'd have to cut down on the walking.  Ha!  It didn't happen.  Walk five blocks to the train, walk in the station, walk to the next restaurant or attraction, walk back to the train, back to the apartment.  But, Steve was a  real trooper.

Today we visited the Cloisters in "upstate" Manhattan along the Hudson River.  It's a medieval art museum made up of transplanted European castles.  Surrounded by groves of trees and extensive gardens, we strolled for hours.   Afterward, we went back to the apartment for a snack and then tried to get to Future Perfect to see the C- Clamp light installation that Lindsey Adelman designed and he fabricated.  Several of the trains we tried to take were closed for the weekend, so we had a devil of a time getting there.  Fortunately, the attendant indulged us so he could show us the fixture.  We are so proud of him!

Visiting Future Perfect to see the light fixture Colin fabricated.
It's spectacular!

We finished off our culinary journey by eating at Veselka Ukrainian restaurant in the East Village and then dessert at the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop.   Thai, Cajun and Ukrainian!  We love to explore new cuisines and this was another exceptional meal to top off  the weekend!
