Day 1373: The Martian

The Martian was a great flick!  Suspenseful, positive, exciting and fun!  We haven't seen a good sci-fi film in a long time, so this was a treat.   I wish it wasn't necessary, but we drove back into Blasdell to the Regal theater to see the matinee.  The local place is so bad that we just don't want to go there.

All through the film, we wondered if the Mars shots were filmed in Utah or Arizona because the rocky desert terrain looked so familiar.  The credits indicated, however, that it was shot in Jordan.   We experienced lots of strange rock formations during our trip and few were as fascinating as those in Goblin Valley State Park.

That's me in the distance standing among the mushrooms.

Looks like a castle, doesn't it?  Actually, it stood a few stories high.

They are difficult to spot, but if you look very closely, you will see several people climbing on the formations in the distance. The rock wall in the background stands at least a hundred feet high.
