Today is also Colin and April's fourth anniversary. The time has flown by and they've experienced so many changes in their years together. Even though we miss them very much, we are so glad that they made the courageous move to NYC. There were no challenging opportunities here for them, only dead end jobs. Both have grown, made lots of new friends, and traveled. I'd hate to think of Colin still stuck at the steel plant getting burned every day.
On our walk through campus today, we were checking out the progress on the science building when one of the supervisors stopped and asked if we had any questions about the construction. He then spent the next ten minutes describing the energy-efficient, high tech structure that will be filled with research labs.
The underside of these cantilevers will hold LED lights.
In front of the building will be a courtyard with short walls for seating that will also be lit with LEDs.
The building is long and narrow so that most rooms will have the benefit of natural light.
This the connecting walkway between Houghton and the new science building.
It will be enclosed in glass and corrugated metal.
The fourth story at the top of the photo is covered with an insulating skin and then corrugated metal will be added later. It will house all of the mechanicals and the observatory.
I caught this kitty enjoying the warmth of the rooftop.
