One of the first things we do when we get up each morning is check the news. This morning we were greeted with the horror of a mass shooting in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. A crazy man dyed his hair red, called himself the Joker and opened fire on the audience in the opening of the new Batman movie. Twelve are dead and nearly thirty more are injured.
Justin called tonight and said that friends of his were in the theater by chance. They are driving cross country to California and stopped in Denver for a few days. They were very excited about going to the movie opening and posted pictures of their tickets on Facebook. Fortunately, they escaped without injury.
I feel so sorry for all those families. Their lives will never be same. I can't understand the madness that drives people to do such things and I hate that guns are so readily available that anyone can buy assault weapons and carry them into public places.
The sky was clearing as evening approached. At Point Gratiot, we watched an exquisite sunset that heralds a clear, beautiful day tomorrow.
