Day 1653: Nice, France

There''s too much sadness and despair in the world.  For my first forty years, the world was divided into two camps.  East vs west, USSR vs US,  Communism vs Democracy.  Surrogate wars and skirmishes all over the planet took thousands of lives and the main threat was nuclear war.  The enemy was fairly defined and knowable.  Now, a truck, a sniper, a suicide bomber. Anyone, any time.

Today, a truck drove into the crowd celebrating Bastille Day while they watched fireworks in Nice.  Dozens are dead.  Not much more is known yet, but the scene is horrifying.
