Day 1617: Hillary

What a joyous day!  After the six primaries in NJ, California, MT, N.D., S.D. and New Mexico,  Hillary Clinton has clinched the Democratic nomination.  It's been a long, harsh battle, and Sanders has still not conceded, but it's over.  The most qualified PERSON has prevailed.  She is more experienced and knowledgeable than any other candidate and she possess extraordinary fortitude.   She got emotional when the crowd was waiting for her and I choked up, too.

She has worked so hard for this nomination and her victory is a victory for all women.   As she noted in her speech, her success is only possible because of the work and sacrifices of women before her.  I've been waiting for this moment my whole life.  So have millions of other girls and women around the US.

Tomorrow, I will write a big check to her to celebrate.  I'll write another to John Plumb who is running against Congressman Tom Reed.  Reed was one of the first members of Congress to endorse Trump and that tells me all I need to know about him.  We have worked for each one of Reed's opponents, but Plumb is a stronger candidate and has a good chance to defeat the incumbent.

This was thank you note day.  I wrote twenty-five, but still have lots more to go.  All of the Brocton cards are done, as are notes for the Fredonia School personnel.  Tomorrow, I'll work on the student leader, Cassadaga, Silver Creek and community cards.  We finished the landowners' letters before we departed for vacation, fortunately.

When we went up to school, Steve was again horrified by the condition of the storage space.  He wanted to put away a few more items, but couldn't get in because thick foam hurdle mats were thrown in on top of our gear.  It makes us crazy that there is so little regard for the equipment, both ours and theirs.

I added a few photos to the blog entries for the first three days of our trip, May 28, 29 and 30.  Then I  chose several for today's entry.

A foggy scene taken on the train early Monday morning on the way to Mallaig.

Favorite scenes taken from the train farther north and later in the day.
